The shining sun, long beaches and landscapes of Los Angeles are all conveyed into the new Replay & Sons Spring/Summer 2017 collection which is marked by colours bleached by salt water and the soft tints of pastel pink, green and blue; the blues of the sea; the neutral tones of the sand. But also bright, energetic colours: coral red, khaki green, fuchsia, orange, aquamarine, turquoise and yellow.
Replay & Sons “Sunset Icons” is a vibrant mixture, full of joie-de-vivre. Freedom here means loose fits, soft, comfortable forms, raw cuts and rips. This great desire for comfort cannot but be reflected in the choice of materials, with a soft handle and pleasant feel on the skin: jersey, plush, gabardine, satin, bull denim and piqué. Not to mention hand-made dyes, garment rips, stonewashes, spotting, abrasions, burnouts and garment-dying. As for the prints, the garments are enlivened with all-over flowers, palm trees, stripes, camouflage, stars, digital prints, geometric and ethnic motifs, biker iconography, reversed logos, watercolour designs, pirate parrots and military stamps.
BOY – Summer for boys is told through three great stories: Customized Icon, Malibu Gipsy and Rock Denim. The first borrows all the military memorabilia from the vintage shops of L.A. and uses them for fun customisations of casualwear and activewear. And so classic camouflage and an original new camouflage, military stamps, pennants, military green, multi-pocket Bermudas and bombers become the rule. Highlights include the shirts with patches, bomber with oriental-style print/embroidery on the back, and the jacket with an all-over reinterpretation of camouflage. Malibu Gipsy comes directly from one of the most famous beaches. Plenty of colour faded by washes, floral prints and ethnic motifs, pirate parrots, splashes of colour, low-crotch pants and Bermudas, and all kinds of tees. Standing out among these are the sweatshirts, shirts and polo shirts with all-over prints of flowers, palm trees and ferns, distressed denim, coloured with a cascade of spots, and tees with nature and wildlife prints. And then Rock Denim, featuring used and faded denim, sweatshirts, t-shirts, in some cases sleeveless, and ergonomic pants. A series of biker prints, stripes, tattoo designs inspired by playing cards, and irreverent reversed logos. Lastly, denim, the beating heart of the collection. L.A. Department Broken Edge: lots of washes with faded, bleached and stone washed effects with repairs and localised mini rips. And then patches, splashes of colour and coloured turn-ups. There are also jeans with traditional washes, and those in black, here with repairs, or faded to grey. As regards fit: slim, super slim, regular and tapered are the latest styles.
GIRL – Summer for her is about: Customized Icon, Malibu Gipsy, Rockabilly. Customized Icon, presents military memorabilia from vintage stores but also expresses femininity and fun. So camouflage is combined with vibrant ethnic details, with braiding, colourful kitsch patches and antiqued studs. Military is toned down and softened, made fun and light-hearted, full of joie-de-vivre. Malibu Gipsy has its roots in the desert festivals, in music, the beach and outdoor life. Multicoloured floral patterns and monochrome geometric prints are combined with ethnic braiding, fabric patches and brightly coloured embroideries. Rockabilly is a mix between Fifties influences, Hollywoodian glamour and gritty appeal. It perfectly combines t-shirts, sweatshirts and short jackets with stronger, bolder details like studs and precious elements like coloured rhinestones, sequins and stars of all kinds. Denim for girls becomes Venice Bleach and expresses all of the blues of the sea and the most famous beach in L.A.. Jeans are light, faded, treated and ripped. And like the rest of the collection, they too are embellished with embroideries, fabric patches, star-shaped studs and maxi jewels. Up-to-date fits for her of course, from skinny to boyfit.
